New Year’s Eve is a particular holiday; decidedly more romantic than Christmas, less contrived than Valentine’s Day, and acceptably alcoholic, it’s much like everyone’s collective birthday. Equal parts wistful for the passing year and hopeful in the promise of what’s to come, there’s nothing really quite like the excitement and warmth surrounding the figurative ball-drop. So what nicer way to ring it in than with the fictional couple behind 500 Days of Summer, arguably one of the best romcoms of the past decade, to leave you feeling warm and fuzzy just in time to kick off your night. It’s short, sweet, and over before you know it, just like the mounting pressure of midnight. A nice toast to the end of the world.
Don’t forget, almost nationwide, AAA will tow you and your car up to 10 miles (for free!) up through 6AM New Year’s morning. Just call 1.800.AAA.HELP – you don’t even need to be a member, so no excuses for recklessness. Wishing you all a safe and fun New Year’s with hopefully some good music to boot. Until 2012…
