Through both his crystalized synth palate and his ability to make all things electronic seem synthesized by nature, I am consistently prone to associate the music of Four Tet with the movement of water. His newest work, “Moma” off the We Are The Works In Progress compilation is an exquisitely mystical track that seems to mimic the progression of rainfall. Glowing synths scatter about the atmosphere like clouds filling the sky. A light kick enters followed by a metallic sounding drum loop adding a welcome amount of tension to the wave of calm. While the track continues to pick up as elements enter and exit, it never feels like it’s pushing forward in one direction. Like rainfall, it’s scattered, but each part adds a new layer to the cool atmosphere. Enjoy-
