Brooklyn’s Sean Price has been making “solid” boom bap rap tunes for almost two decades. He teamed up with fellow industry vet Guilty Simpson and standout producer Black Milk (whose own consistency has us feeling like he’s beein in the game for two decades as well), both of Detroit to form Random Axe. They released their long awaited self-titled album on Duck Down records earlier this year.
“Chewbacca”, the album’s first official video is a surprisingly comic effort from these guys (preview: Chewbacca reading National Graphic on the john followed by a genital hair drying sequence) over a not surprisingly stellar piano-loop backed Black Milk beat. The beat is infectious and joyful, but Price is still a lyrical bully in top form ready to “smackrappers”. His Brooklyn flow is punctuated by fellow BK hardknock Roc Marciano who never seems ready to hit cruise control on his threatening flow either.
The whole thing is made better by the knowledge that this is actual Rock the Bells footage. Props to the Wookie fam.
