James Blake helped reel in 2011 as the year of post-dubstep, but it would have only gone so far if it were not for the heavier, dreamier sound of SBTRKT. With an amazing cast of guest vocalist that includes Little Dragon, the producer and beat maker created one 2011’s most unique sounding records in an increasingly tiresome genre (as Blake himself pointed out). His shadowy, self-titled debut is equally beautiful and gritty.
Tonight, the Mondrian LA and IAMSOUND Records present SBTRKT in one of the best atmospheres imaginable. After night falls, travel to Hollywood to see this masked producer and beat maker perform poolside. This show will serve as a special treat to fans of down tempo, experimental electronic music who won’t be journeying to HARD this weekend to see his set.
