Friday Night // Trevino – “Buried”

Well look who has been spotted jumping on the 808 bandwagon?

It’s only Marcus Intalex, the ultimate intelligent liquid drum and bass honcho.

The Mancunian* – who made his name spearheading the more refined side of dnb, releasing Martyn’s first crossover hit on Revolve:r Shadowcasting – has shifted his attention to 4-to-the-floor side of things.

Intalex has always expressed more than a passing interest in Techno and one wonders why he hadn’t delved into the genre in the past.  His alter ego work under the pseudonym, Trevino, is quite timely.

The warm synth analogues, over the intro and throughout the track, build up an instant, melancholic affinity with the listener.  Drums flow seamlessly through the bassier part of the tune, undoubtedly composed by a selector who spent years honing his craft and tweaking amends.  Intalex, or Trevino, has effectively transferred his drum and bass template across the Bass music spectrum.

Now shine your boots up, strap on your chains and get buried somewhere.  It’s Friday night.
