For the first single off The Field’s third release, In A Looping State of Mind, the Swedish techno producer takes a striking turn towards the more visceral and surreal side of his catalog. Having began this process with his second release, Yesterday and Today, the piano-drive “Then It’s White” is riddled with incandescent chimes and fading vocal samples – as it if were recanting the story of creation, building slowly, growing and then fading away.
I can’t help but compare this track to the a Resident Advisor mix that came out early last year. In it, Jacaszek, an electro-acoustic, Polish musician blends his work with classical compositions to espouse sensations similar to those produced by “Then It’s White.” All in all, another solid Kompakt release.
