James Vincent McMorrow has the incredible ability to many any room you’re in feel small. Or, maybe not so much small as alone due to the state of introspection his voice inevitably leads one to. In any line he delivers there are equal amounts of solace and sadness, of weight and frailty. Even when revisiting two late-80s classics; Winwood’s “Higher Love” and Isaac’s “Wicked Game,” McMorrow is able to inject his own sense of calm. Check out each cover below, and if you are in LA be sure to catch James at The Bootleg this Saturday and Sunday (9/24, 9/25) for what will know doubt be some beautifully heartbreaking shows.
