Princeton, the LA born and bred band, have been around and kicking for the past few years, cranking out some pleasant but fairly standard indie pop, steeped in strings and vibes and soft guitars (think of the left coast spawns of Vampire Weekend-ish indie pop). Their recent 7-inch release (the single, To The Alps, via Hit City U.S.A.) hinted that the band was shifting its sonic focus and pace to a more driven synth-pop flavor, a change that was welcoming to the ears.
They continued this progression today, with the drop of their fantastic new single, “Clamoring For Your Heart.” The bassline and drum beat work together to keep up the danceability of the sparse verses, while the airy strings give it a warm and mellow feel, making the tune ripe for a warm summer evening of Gin Fizzes and loose dancing. A really enjoyable track from a band whom we can’t wait to see what comes next.
