“All I Wanna Do” by L.A. natives, Stone Darling, is the song I hope a girl will write about me one day. Their is an overwhelming sense of purity in the lyrics and performance which perfectly captures the sense of longing found in the line, “All I wanna do is be with you”. A line so straight-forward, it can only mean love. A line that seems almost too simple to work, but match simplicity with sincerity and you have brutal honestly. It shines, the same way “Sometimes you make me happy, sometimes you make me sad” shines. The same way “I want to hold your hand” is all that needs to be said. The drone of the vocals, and early morning guitar tone only add to the sense of desire and will bring back memories of the first time you heard “Fade Into You” . Musically, the song is crafted in a way that allows for a build throughout it’s entire 5 minutes- all on the base of a simple 2 chord pattern (no easy task). Haunting back-up vocals weave their way in and out of the track, all leading up to powerful and heartfelt harmonies, backed by a full band, all left echoing as the song fades away.
