Austin’s Nicole Schneit, aka Air Waves, released her debut Dungeon Dots on November 30 via Underwater Peoples. The album is filled with melodic folk pop. Schneit’s style bears plenty of similarities to popular indie artists like Feist or Cat Power’s Chan Marshall. On her MySpace, she lists Neil Young as her only influence.
The opener “Knockout” sets the tone for Dungeon Dots with jangly guitars and heartfelt lyrics. Schneit sings, “I’m alive/I’m on fire/For the first time in my life.” The chorus could be the anthem to falling in love. Air Waves’s current single “Radio” is by far the album’s warmest offering. It’s moving, infectious folk-pop. Preview both tracks below and buy Dungeon Dots today.
