God knows how much I miss The Strokes. Rumor has it (via Twitter) that the band finished the album today, but we’ve heard that a few times before. Thus in the meantime I will continue to look for a band that satisfies the duality of coolness and catchiness that Julian and co. provided for sometime in my musical life. The Dead Trees, acting as the backing band for Little Joy, definitely perked up my ears with the undeniably toe-tapping tune “Back To L.A.”. The drums are simple and tight, the guitars go from bouncy to driving, and the vocals range from indifference to a Walkman-esque growl. Good shit.
