Skip James – “Devil Got My Woman”

Skip James was from the Mississippi Delta, he scraped around labouring and playing juke joints like above. Eventually his recordings were released on the eve of the Great Depression, when they tanked he became a choir musician instead and it wasn’t until the ’60s folk revival he was rediscovered. This song was written after he figured his new wife was cheating with his mate.
