In 1984, Canadian New Wave group Platinum Blonde released the catchy glam rock anthem “Not In Love.” This year, Crystal Castes took on the song for their magnificent second album, digitizing it appropriately. Their rendition seemed good enough, providing the record with a strong highlight near the end. Still, if you have the opportunity to work with one of the most iconic singers from the 80s, you should probably take it. The Cure’s mastermind Robert Smith improves the track even more by lending his vocal chords. He helps us find the perfect middle ground between Crystal Castles’ computerized daze and Platinum Blonde’s high energy, 80s pop. It’s really fucking good.
