I have Mexican friends who will tell you Cumbia is equally a Mexican as much as a Columbian art form: this Argentinian fellow shows up both countries. His album elaborates on a Cumbia journey across the digital spectrum, infusing the South American/Latin style with some post-modern, 2010 IDM flavourings. The last track on the album may have the effect of an imaginary K-hole if you listen loudly and intently enough.
At the moment outside of Argentina “Río Arriba” is only available to stream on soundcloud according to the label. Chancha Via Circuito just finished touring the US and Europe, I will be eagerly awaiting their next arrival.
