Sum City Sum Where

For our third mixtape, QuitMumbling takes you on a little educational journey, back in time and out East. Sum City Sum Where is a compilation of some of our favorite recordings that defined the New York City underground from the late 60′s through the 70′s. The mix is not organized chronologically, but you’ll be hearing sounds ranging from the Velvet Undeground’s time transcending work all the way through to the Tom Tom Club’s upbeat “Genius of Love.” These artists, including the likes of Iggy Pop, the New York Dolls, and Television, shaped an important subculture of music that would go on to powerfully define the alternative, new wave, and indie genres. A lot of what you listen to owes a lot to these acts, whether its the loud but friendly Ramones or the criminally intense Suicide. O ya, and before anyone mentions anything, we are aware that the Modern Lovers are from Boston, Iggy’s tied to Detroit, and that Nico is German, but you cannot doubt their involvement in this Big Apple ruckus.
