Arcade Fire- “Sprawl II”

Please excuse the excessive amounts of hyperbole’s used in these next few sentences, but when your talking about a band like Arcade Fire…it’s hard to avoid. For example, I could confidently make the statement that one of the best bands of our time have come out with the best record of the year (thus far). On the band’s third masterpiece, lying deep in the track listing, is my favorite song of The Suburbs- “Sprawl  II“. “Sprawl II” is a sort of folk-disco anthem which lives up to the band’s reputation of beauty in epic proportions.  Regine’s vocals are perfect down to the way she apathetically whispers “just punch the clock” in the second line.  The melody is catchy, and beautiful, and little bit bittersweet- like it was dusted off from an old 70′s disco LP and is on it’s last legs of life.  The drums keep the song moving and play nicely off the staccato keyboard.  I will open up this next line to criticism- but I’d be willing to say this track is as close to perfect as I’ve heard in sometime.  Enjoy it below.
