If you were to take Madlib’s heavy, funkified hip hop productions and somehow transform it all into the ultimate soundtrack to relaxing poolside, you’ll probably end up with the tropical sounds of Monster Rally. Similar to Madlib’s Beat Konducta series, this producer puts together short pieces, each built on unique loops with captivating beats. Instead of experimental hip hop instrumentals, these are short bits of bright, deconstructed pop music. Lucky for us, he also provides a lot of free tunes. Monster Rally’s debut EP was released last month, and I must say, all 6 tracks are particularly noteworthy. His debut full length Palm Reader will be out in September, but he has already given us seven songs to preview it with.
