Classics // Souls of Mischief – “93 ’til Infinity”
This is one of the most relaxing, easy-going hip hop songs you’ll ever hear. Enough said.

Recently featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered, Pittsburgh’s Summer-Winter makes traditional music for outerspace. Songwriter Terry O’hara puts the spirit of classic American folk in every song, but then lets them drift away into the night sky. “Tired” can put you to sleep. The sleep deprivation behind O’hara’s voice is contagious. It is one of [...]
I have to admit that I’m not a huge fan of all of this ‘Glo-fi/Chillwave’ business going on now. To me, it sometimes seems like a weak crutch to compensate for poor songwriting, but maybe that’s because I just don’t ‘get it’ yet. However there are some exceptions. I have gotten into include Toro Y [...]
Wake up, wake up, wake up! Sleigh Bells new track ‘Tell ‘Em” is crazy- loud, ultra- fuzzy, and underneath it all- pretty damn catchy! Lets just say I am becoming a very big fan of this band. Can’t wait to catch them live! Treats comes out May 11th.

With an album on the way, Best Coast (aka Bethany Cosentino) treats us with “Our Deal.” The new song sports Cosentino’s usual melodic craft, but it’s not muffled by the low fidelity we are used to from her previous releases. Without the usual muddle, you can clearly hear the yearning in her voice as she [...]
When I first heard “Canada” by Treasure, the newest addition to the chill-wave family, I thought it was an ok song. It was only after I saw the video where the song makes the infamous Anderson-Lee sex tape seem like a romantic trip down memory lane, did I think twice. Enjoy the song and the [...]
Holy Ghost! are set to release a brand new EP for us. May 18 will give way to Static on the Wire, a four track EP which includes the gem “Say My Name.” The song is packed with the typical disco fun expected from any DFA release these days. Holy Ghost! have also supplied us [...]
