Merriweather Post Pavillion is already out and I have never heard of an album with such an early year release date get so much love and hype. 2009 will need to supply some ridiculously good albums/songs if Animal Collective’s latest is to be fairly matched up against. Before we review the entire Merriweather Post Pavillion, lets take a look at the best track on the album “My Girls” and it’s incredible mash-up remix with Frankie Knuckles “Your Love.” (More and both tracks after the jump).
“My Girls” is an emotional landslide of beautiful colors. The Panda Bear vocals would alone be a frightening masterpiece, a mesmerizing a Capella. But alongside Animal Collective’s incredibly in depth musical approach, the song might as well be the last song you listen to in 2009. It is simply the most perfected song yet to be released by the hallucinogenic, inspiring masterminds. It’s an entertaining mess of music both worth drifting away and dancing to; an orchestrated head ache of sound worth hundreds of repeated listens.
Even better, there is already an awesome remix, equally as exciting. Apparently, Animal Collective like themselves a little bit of house music. Frankie Knuckles, whose reinterpretation of Hercules and Love Affair’s “Blind” was arguably the best 2008 remix, finds his electro disco jam “Your Love” perfectly mashed and blended into AC’s “My Girls.” Its too hard to explain how good this is.
Below is AC’s original track and the “My Girls”/”Your Love” mash-up.
